Starting your business
We are happy to discuss with you the advantages and disadvantages of running your business as self- employed person or via a limited company. There are lots of ways of setting up your business, but if you start off with the right structure from the beginning you will reap the benefits long term.

Starting with QuickBooks
We have worked with hundreds of small businesses over the last twenty years and have watched too many struggle with complicated accounts packages. Which is why we recommend that you use QuickBooks to keep your Company accounts – you might even enjoy it! We will create a Company file for QuickBooks tailored to your own business, which we will send to you and hold your hand through the installation process.

We like to work to fixed fees which we will agree before we start, so you know what you are paying and can afford it. We will invest time when you start so we get your business in the right tax structure if you are starting your business and if you are new to QuickBooks we will train you to keep accurate accounts.

The following fees assume that you use QuickBooks to prepare your invoices and you enter all the bank receipts and payments and reconcile the bank account.

  • Non Vat small company from £360 per annum
  • Vat registered from £550 per annum
  • Companies House record keeping and filing £50 per annum
  • Additional director’s personal tax returns £75

Vat will be charged at the current rate.

“I am not a numbers person, I am a creative! We looked at Sage but the costs were prohibitive and it was way too complicated. The team at Southworth & Co helped me set up and regularly check everything over so now it’s really easy and quick to stay of top of our figures – and the reporting helps us plan way ahead”. Kerry Richards, Design Consultant.
